A brilliant effort from Bordeaux legend Jean-Luc Thunevin and up and coming superstar Jean-Roger Calvet, the 2018 Thunevin-Calvet Cuvee Constance has been called a dead ringer for ready-to-drink Chateauneuf du Pape! Thunevin rose to immediate fame with Chateau Valandraud, his garagiste project in Saint Emilion, when Robert Parker compared his Bordeaux to the established classified growths. It's only fitting that the winemaking duo launched this project from a garage in an alley in the Cotes du Roussillon. Focusing on vineyards in Maury's famed black schist soils, this area of Southern France is warm and rugged like Chateauneuf du Pape, producing wines that are equally dark and brooding. Since the early 2000s, this project has grown to a 65-hectare estate where Thunevin and Calvet can control production. Robert Parker has given the Cuvee Constance 90+ points since inception and it's one of our most popular French wines the past 5 years!
"Rich and creamy with dark berries, wet stones, tiles, white pepper and chocolate on the nose. Medium to full-bodied with chewy tannins loaded with dark fruit and chocolate in the plump, juicy finish. Drink now." James Suckling, 90 Points
