One of the smallest AVAs in California, Arroyo Seco boasts one of the longest growing seasons. The warm, sunny days are followed by chilly afternoon winds that sweep across the Salinas Valley from Monterey Bay. This dramatic daily cooling keeps the grapes on the vines well into the season, intensifying varietal character while keeping acid levels high. Pinot Noir thrives here, getting enough sunshine to fully ripen, yet also benefitting from cool coastal influences. These are graceful and balanced wines. Hahn, J Lohr, and La Crema all have vineyard here, but we think our Vineyard Block Estate is the best of them all, under $20 a bottle!
"Rich and polished with a beautiful array of plum, raspberry, red currant, lively wild berry and savory herb flavors. Well-structured with hints of mocha and anise overtones finishing with depth and persistence." The Wine Buyer, 93 Points
